Chairman Allan Zeman hopes the total will reach 7.4 million. The park will open new attractions next year, including a revamped "Shark Mystique," which will feature 100 sharks from 15 species, and "Adventures in Australia," which will feature eight koalas and other wildlife from the continent. Over the weekend, Clinton Shepherd, Operations manager at Chicago Navy Pier, shattered the previous world record (30 hours and 36 seconds) for the "longest marathon on a fairground/theme park attraction" by riding the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel for 48 hours, 8 minutes, and 25 seconds (You'd have to purchase 384 tickets to do that on your own!) His attempt was in honor of the Armed Forces and was capped off with a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Michigan. The pier "tricked-out" his Gandola with curtains, pillows, a flat screen tv and even a chandelier! Clinton could not sleep at all during the attempt and only got 5 minutes every hour for a bathroom break. Disney World and Disneyland combined attendance was up 8% from a year earlier, setting quarterly attendance records. Disney reported an overall second-quarter profit of $1.5 billion, while revenue increased to almost $10.6 billion. "This was a quarter that I think stood out because the product that we recently put online really worked, like California Adventure and Fantasyland and the cruise ships," said Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger. Orlando Sentinel (Fla.) (tiered subscription model) Dollywood Splash Country opens this weekend and with it will be a brand new water ride to entice roller coaster lovers. RiverRush opens to the public on Saturday. It's the first of its kind at Dollywood Splash Country and in Tennessee and one of only a handful in the country. Dollywood gave 10News a sneak peak behind the scenes of the ride. The ride uses magnets to push the four person boat through the twisting tubes.
